The founder of Facebook, one of the most popular social network
platforms, Mark Zuckerberg, is billed to visit Akwa Ibom State next
month. Zuckerberg is one of the guest speakers invited for a youth
economic summit organized by the Niger Delta Young Professionals.
The Chairman of Niger Delta Young Professionals, Moses Siasia,
disclosed this on Thursday during a courtesy visit on the state
Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, at the Governor’s Office, Uyo.
Siasia, who is attending a two-day retreat in the state, used the
occasion to invite Akpabio as a Special Guest of Honour to the summit
billed for Uyo, the state capital, between May 28 and 29, this year.
The chairman explained that the Niger Delta Young Professionals was
made up of young professionals from different backgrounds, tribes and
states coming together to tackle the challenges to bring about the
desired change in the Niger Delta states. Siasa further commended Akpabio for transforming the state through
infrastructure: good road network, health and education sector.
Responding, Chief Akpabio, who thanked them for visiting the state
and appreciating the infrastructure of the state, pointed out that he
was determined to make government work in the state, stressing that
success starts from budgeting in government, which had led to uncommon
Transformation in the state.
Akpabio enjoined them to put in their best at their places of work
and said success could only come with hard work, remarking that in Akwa
Ibom State, youth occupy key positions in the state and that the state
was the most youth friendly state in the country.
The Governor pledged to assist them in hosting the forthcoming youth
economic summit that would take place in the state, and commended the
Niger Delta youth for not engaging in militancy, but as future leaders
have resolved to develop the region.
