Jaywon |
On the other side, the artiste is currently in deep thought as he makes another decision in his chosen career, music. He doesn’t know if he should walk away from Kennis Music or extend his contract.
Jaywon joined Kennis Music in 2009 as a young talented artiste. He signed a two years contract with the label which expired in 2011. He signed another two years in 2011 and that will be expiring next month, May 2013.
Kennis Music has no doubt raised the profile of the then unfamiliar act to one of the most popular act in Nigeria. The label explored all their promotional tactics to promote the artiste but he never became a goldmine like former label act , 2Face Idibia. Jaywon had some viable commercial songs on his debut album such as Gbogbon featuring Terry G and two others, but it never transformed to commercial success.
Jaywon will not comment on his decision to leave or stay in Kennis Music but one of kinsmen agreed to speak with Entertainment Rave on an anonymous condition. He also dismissed the allegations in some quarters that Jaywon already registered his own record label. “It is true that Jaywon’s contract with Kennis Music will expire next month but he is yet to make up his mind if he will leave or not. The guy is in deep thought and he is taking advise from few trusted friends. The idea of registering a record label is a big fat lie. He is still with Kennis Music and by next month he will make his decision”.
